From the Ladies' Section

The Lady Captain - Eleanor Walker managed to Drive - In on March 13th despite the course being closed. Her drive was long and straight! The “ nearest the Captain’s Drive” prize was won by Helen Coan.

The Lady Captain’s arrival was in keeping with her profession – midwifery and had a “Call the Midwife” theme as she arrived on a bike in full uniform. It was a very happy day and all ladies enjoyed tea and delicious cakes afterwards.

The Annual Dinner was held the following week and was very well attended, with over 50 ladies sitting down for an excellent meal and then being entertained by a team of lovely young ladies performing a selection of Irish Dances.
We all wish Lady Captain - Eleanor and Mr Captain - Rob a very happy, dry and successful year.

On March 14th Pauline Close and Sue Fox played their first round of the Daily Mail foursomes at Carden Park and won on the 18th , apparently the only time they were up in the match! Well done! The draw for the next round is on April 28th and we wish them luck in that.

Our Percival Trophy team played Delamere away on April 11th having not played competitively since last October! They had an enjoyable day and the sun did shine but, unfortunately they lost.

The recruitment drive for new lady members, which has been in operation for the last nine months has been very successful, resulting in over 20 new lady members joining. They are all very keen and eager to get out on the course now that conditions are improving. Thanks
to everyone who has been involved both in the organisation of the programme and the volunteers for helping in its delivery.

Competitions got underway on Wednesday April 17th and hopefully they will be qualifying as from Saturday April 20th . Our grateful and sincere thanks go to Richie and his staff who have worked tirelessly through the atrocious conditions we have experienced to get the course to a very good playing condition.

We hope for a warm ,dry Spring ,Summer and Autumn.
