The Ladies Senior Open was held on Thursday October 5th and was once again well organised by Pandy Brodie and Viv Kenwright. Many thanks to them and the team of volunteers, both before and on the day who make the Opens so enjoyable and successful. As usual there was excellent feedback from all of the competitors re the course, welcome in the clubhouse and halfway house and the food provided on the day. Many
thanks to Richie and his team, Martin, Dan and all the clubhouse staff, Martin O’Connor and
to Phil who was around all day getting to know people. This is the last time we are running
this Open due to the unpredictability of the weather at this time of year but, of course, the
other two will continue as usual. The list of prize winners has already been published on the
website.

We are now into our Christmas competitions. We look forward to upcoming events Charity
Coffee Morning, Christmas Party and Bridge Drive and hope to see many of you at these
events. Posters are up in the locker room and clubhouse.

As previously advised, as we start protecting the Course for the winter, it can no longer be guaranteed to qualify for WHS purposes. Therefore, no scores will be submitted to a player’s WHS playing record until qualifying rounds commence in the Spring. The Handicap Committee will shortly be conducting the Annual Handicap Review in line with England Golf’s WHS guidelines.

Our new ladies Taster sessions, managed by Gill, are becoming a great success. From the initial taster, we now have a waiting list for the next one. The ladies are really enjoying this experience, with coaching from Martin. If you know any ladies, partners, family members who would like to give golf a try (and see what the men get up to) then contact Gill Duncan or Phil Beard. We are expecting about 25 ladies at our first Taster Presentation on Thursday, 26th October. In addition to the golf, many of our ladies also play bridge which is particularly enjoyable for those ladies who, for a variety of reasons are unable to play golf but still get the socialisation of meeting with friends.
